Mary's House - April 1, 2005
We gathered at Mary's house in Enid on Friday, April 1, 2005 about 10:30 pm. We visited with Mary and asked her what had been happening at her house that caused her to contact us. She told us of several sightings by other people that no longer in the home, of a man. One time was so clear that they called the police and reported an intruder. When the police arrived, they basically told them they were seeing things as all the doors and windows were secured and there was no way into the home. Another time, Mary's daughter reported waking up and seeing a man standing over them while they slept. Mary's daughter and her boyfriend moved out of the house and one night Mary heard the tapestry that hangs on the door to the guest room start swinging. Then she heard the door opening and slamming several times - she was alone in the house. We asked her what she knew of the history of the home and she knew nothing of the former inhabitants.
We did a walk through and tried the dowsing rods several times. They seemed like they were not going to be cooperative, but we did get consistent answers each time we asked. At one point we were doing the session in the bedroom and there were several people in the room and they worked better after we had everyone but two or three leave.
We decided to leave the tape recorder and EMF detectors in the guest room and go into the other room and talk - pretending to just be hanging out rather than "investigating". I have a theory that more things tend to happen when you are not looking or expecting them to. So as we were chatting in the living room and laughing and having a good time, we hear the EMF detector start squelching. Now, if you have much experience with EMF detectors, you know it takes a lot for them to go off even a little bit, let alone squelch a lot - especially when it's just sitting in the middle of a bed. We ran to the bedroom and of course, the video equipment was not filming, but we did get the EMF going off on the tape. There are some beeps on the tape that we believe are coming from the camera as its battery is dying.
During our dowsing session in the bedroom with just the three of us, Kathy suggested asking if its name was "Ben" so we asked was his name Ben and the rods indicated "no". I mentioned that I was getting an impression of "John" and Kathy said that was her initial impression as well, but then went with Ben instead. So we asked was his name John and they indicated "yes". Over the course of several dowsing sessions and a pendulum session, we discovered that Mary's visitor's name was John, that he passed away at an old age, and that he had lived in that house, but not died there. We also discovered that he didn't like Mary - it wasn't personal though, he didn't particularly want anyone living in his house.
Now, let me clarify - I thought this whole dowsing thing was going to be bunk and that we were just getting random indications. But they were consistent every time we asked the same questions throughout the evening. I truly thought that none of the answers would make sense in the grand scheme of things. As we got into the car I even said, "If I run that address tomorrow and some old dude named John lived here and died, I will crap myself". So the following day, I researched the address using a search site that licensed law enforcement agencies use. This site will list everyone who has lived at that address in the last several years and will list the months and years they lived there and will also list their age, birth date, and a big red "D" will appear next to their name if they are deceased. When I ran Mary's address, there were 28 results. There was one John and he had a big red "D" next to his name and he died when he was 81. He was the ONLY one on the list with the red "D" and the only John - which is a common name. Coincidence? Maybe - but we don't think so. This goes to show how important historical validation is to an investigation. I prefer not knowing in advance though so none of the questions can be leading.
We will be going back to Mary's house on the 16th for a follow up investigation.
Here's the EMF caught on tape - there was no one in the room and the EMF was lying on the bed.
